A Belle Epoque Legacy Reborn At Hôtel Hermitage
Perched above the Mediterranean with its iconic Eiffel dome and Belle Epoque façade, the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo has long defined the Principality's refined hospitality. Built upon a legacy stretching back to 1928, the palace recently unveiled the latest chapter in an ongoing revitalization program initiated in 2024 by Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer.
At the heart of this evolution are the newly reimagined "Appartements de l’Hermitage." Twenty-two years after their inception, the Diamond Suites have been meticulously restored by their original creators: the architectural firm Pierre-Yves Rochon alongside the Design and Engineering Department of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer. Under the direction of Luc Leroy and Stéphanie Rainaut, and guided by Pierre-Yves Rochon and Artistic Director Karine Bouaziz, the suites blend historic grandeur with contemporary comfort.
Flooded with natural light, the redesigned spaces feature Versailles parquet, Auberley and Laurent moldings, and Calacatta marble, all set against a calming palette of water green, blue, and beige. Among them, the 283-square-meter Diamond Suite Princière and the 151-square-meter Diamond Suite Présidentielle stand out as masterclasses in luxury. Complete with expansive terraces overlooking the port and the Prince's Palace, white onyx and Calacatta Oro marble bathrooms, Baccarat crystal fixtures, and Lalique sconces, the suites can also combine to offer an expansive 434-square-meter residence.
Complementing the suites is Gustave, a new bar tucked into the hotel’s Winter Garden beneath the landmark Eiffel dome. Conceived by interior architect Shirine Zirak as an 18th-century bourgeois salon, the space extends onto a stone-paved terrace framed by wrought-iron furnishings and lush greenery. Open daily from midday to 1 a.m., it offers a sophisticated setting for cocktails curated by Head Barman Julien Lecharpentier.
As Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer looks toward the next phase of development scheduled for the spring of 2027, the resort's cultural calendar continues to draw connoisseurs. Notably, L’Abysse Monte-Carlo—the gastronomic restaurant housed within the hotel—will welcome Chefs Yannick Alléno and Martino Ruggieri on September 19, 2026, for a special four-hands dinner as part of the sixth anniversary Festival des Etoilés Monte-Carlo.
