Signature Style
The Bow Tie Is Back.
WINTER 2024 fashion showcased a resurgence of timeless classic styles. Tartan made a return to the runway, along with vibrant reds, exquisite leatherwork and a captivating range of nude shades. The sophisticated aesthetics featured in various collections extended to evening wear, showcasing captivating black dresses that renowned fashion houses expertly created into feminine “all eyes on me” masterpieces. A distinctive fusion of contemporary and vintage elements is the newest trend in the fashion arena.
Keeping true to its signature sleek and minimalist look, the Prada show in Milan featured a range of tastefully classic pieces influenced by masculine ideals. Other designs paid homage to haute couture and revived the bow tie as an often focal point, offering a new take on the “French style.” An assortment of bows in a variety of sizes were displayed on the silhouettes of Balmain, the shirt dresses of Valentino, the black coats of GmbH, and dresses by Moschino and Nina Ricci.
Undoubtedly, neo-bouquets are the trend. Prada, Lanvin and Chanel, amongst others, presented three-dimensional floral adornments, the aesthetic of neo- impressionist flowering garden fashion artwork. Sewn or fixed, big or small, these accompaniments are reviving femininity and giving the impression of being engrossed in a moving work of art. Especially in the Principality, style enthusiasts are embracing both the neo- bouquet and bow tie, leaving behind the conventional Swarovski textiles.
Red is making a significant comeback— even in Monaco—as the femme fatale fashion trend, drawing inspiration from the 1990s. In addition to the Gucci Ancora catwalk, Ferragamo, Marni, A.W.A.K.E. Mode, and Alexander McQueen all painted accessories and garments in red—suits, stockings and kitten heels are the epitome of style now.
In Winter 2024, the ephemeral popularity of sport chic, oversize clothing and 2000s trends has given way to a spectacular return and fodder for the next generation: exquisite, intense, daring but delicate and, most importantly, timeless elegance.
The newest trends of the season, such as micro shorts, may reenergize celebrities, influencers, and fashionistas, but Monaco has its own style. The cornerstones of a true Monegasque’s walk-in closet are fine cashmere, luxuriously comfortable footwear and both ultra and simply exceptional accessories. This season’s pinnacle of color expression is a selection of unique beige hues that boost layering and serve as the benchmark for opulent winter attire.
Increasingly, fashion designers are reverting to the distinctly feminine pin- up of the 1950s. The silhouettes of the Neo New Look are visible in dresses, fitted waists and voluminous skirts. A style that is well regarded and may be easily incorporated into the Riviera.
When it comes to a night out, Monaco is the ultimate destination for extravagance. As the spotlights shine on Casino Square, the LBD remains a classic, and starred on haute couture runways at a handful of shows this winter.
