Rich In Responsibility
Philanthropy Is At The Heart Of What We Do. And We Are Profoundly Appreciative Of The Role That The Butterfly Ball Monaco Plays In Supporting Caudwell Children.
THIS YEAR MARKS two deeply meaningful milestones for our family and for Caudwell Children. We are celebrating the charity’s 25th anniversary and the 10th edition of the Butterfly Ball Monaco - a decade of hope, impact, and giving with purpose.
When I founded Caudwell Children in 2000, my goal was simple but ambitious: to improve the lives of children and young people living with disabilities in the UK. In the 25 years since, the charity has grown into a nationally respected and internationally recognized organization, supporting tens of thousands of disabled and autistic children across Britain.
My partner Modesta began the Monaco event as a charity cycle ride ten years ago, followed by a small dinner. Since then, it has evolved into a dazzling, world-class fundraising gala that has raised millions and improved the lives of so many children and families. Modesta’s passion and dedication brought the Butterfly Ball to life in the unique and glittering heart of Monaco.
The gala event brings together individuals who understand that luxury and philanthropy can walk hand in hand, and who believe that wealth, privilege, and influence must be used to serve a greater purpose.
Over the years, the generosity of our guests, sponsors, and Life-Changer Circle members has helped us raise tens of millions of euros. These funds directly support autism assessments, specialist equipment, therapies, and practical family support for those navigating some of life’s most difficult circumstances.
This year, as we mark 25 years of Caudwell Children, our ambitions are greater than ever. We are expanding our services, reaching more families, and continuing to champion the rights and needs of disabled and autistic children throughout the UK.
Philanthropy is a core value for us. It is not about applause, but about accountability. It is about taking the wealth we have been fortunate to accumulate and using it with intent, to transform lives, create opportunity, and bring hope where there was once despair.
That belief is why in 2013 I became a proud signatory of The Giving Pledge, a global initiative led by Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett. By signing the pledge, we committed to give away at least 70% of our wealth during our lifetimes and beyond. It is a public promise to use resources to solve pressing problems, support those in need, and contribute to a more compassionate world.
As Modesta and I look ahead to this year’s Butterfly Ball, we are preparing for something truly special. It will be a spectacular evening, not only to celebrate a decade of unforgettable moments in Monaco, but to honor a quarter-century of service to some of the most vulnerable children in our society.
We welcome those who wish to do more than attend. We invite you to stand beside us as true partners in making a difference. Our Life-Changers Circle is a collective of committed philanthropists who pledge a minimum of £100,000 (€120,000) per year for ten years. These individuals are not just supporters, they are part of our extended family, sharing our vision of a fairer, more compassionate world.
Together, we can show the world that true luxury lies in the ability to change lives.
